The Third Annual Juneteenth Celebration and Brunch will be held Saturday, June 15th, 9:30am-2pm at the Ocean City High School (501 Atlantic Avenue, Ocean City, NJ).

 

This year's program will honor Reverend John T. Winters (Spiritual Leadership Award), Mr. and Mrs. Tommy and Mary Miles (Business Leadership Award), Ms. Bernice McClellan (Family Values Award), Mr. Daniel Henry (Community Leadership Award), Ms. Charlene Hemphill (Memorial Award), Ms. Mary Jane Granger (Philanthropic Leadership Award), and Mr. Richard Tolson (Community Ally Award).

 

The event will feature a program to celebrate the extensive contributions to the community of the honorees through a documentary with interviews of their loved ones, and will include a brunch buffet, live music from BF Sounds, dance performances, and Black owned vendors. History of Juneteenth

Juneteenth represents the day, June 19, 1865, that enslaved Africans in Texas finally learned of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. This day has been celebrated in the Black community since then. Learn more about Juneteenth
